An L sealer is a type of shrink wrapping machine that seals and cuts shrink film around a product in one action. It's named after its L-shaped sealing bar.

The product to be wrapped is loaded into the centre folded film through the dividing plate, then the bakery product and film are moved to the left and into the sealing area of the ‘L’ sealer. The sealing head is then lowered to initiate the two sealing wires to cut the film round the product. Because the trailing seal from the last cycle has made the leading seal for the next pack and the film is already folded on the roll to give two open front edges, when you complete the seal you enclose the product in a complete bag.

L sealers suit businesses that need to shrink wrap boxed, trayed, or solid items for retail, display, or delivery.

• Bakeries and cake makers: wrapping cake boxes, tray bakes, brownies, and pastry packs.
• Delis and sandwich bars: sealing sandwich platters, deli trays, and grab-and-go packs.
• Farm shops and food producers: packing produce punnets, cheese, preserves, and gift boxes.
• Hotels and restaurants: protecting menus, stationery, room amenities, and boxed tableware.
• Caterers and event companies: wrapping platters and hampers for transport and delivery.
• Retailers and gift shops: creating multipacks, hampers, and tamper-evident retail packs.
• Confectioners and chocolatiers: sealing boxed sweets and chocolates for a premium finish.

It depends on what you're wrapping. We recommend two main options:

• Plain film gives a crystal-clear, fully sealed finish. It's ideal for cold or room-temperature products, helping keep them fresh and protected on the shelf.
• Perforated film has tiny holes that let steam and trapped air escape. It's ideal for warm or freshly baked products, as it prevents condensation building up inside the pack.

Cleaning is quick and simple. The machine has stainless steel contact parts and a white epoxy finish, so a quick wipe-down at the end of the day keeps it hygienic and looking its best.

L sealers are low-maintenance. The main job is replacing the sealing wire from time to time, which is quick and inexpensive.
